SYNOPSIS

Set during a fiercely contested presidential primary, FARRAGUT NORTH follows a young, ambitious campaign press secretary caught in the brutal machinery of American politics. Written by Beau Willimon (House of Cards / Andor), it offers an unflinching look behind the curtains at the strategists, spokespeople, the media, and dealmakers who shape public perception of representative politics while serving their own ambitions. But as loyalties shift and personal motives collide, the play explores how power, even in small doses, distorts values and relationships.

„FARRAGUT NORTH“ spielt vor dem Hintergrund eines hart umkämpften Vorwahlkampfs um das Präsidentenamt und begleitet einen jungen, ehrgeizigen Pressesprecher, der in die brutale Maschinerie der amerikanischen Politik gerät. Die Serie stammt aus der Feder von Beau Willimon („House of Cards“ / „Andor“) und gewährt einen schonungslosen Blick hinter die Kulissen auf die Strategen, Sprecher, Medienvertreter und Dealmaker, die die öffentliche Wahrnehmung der repräsentativen Politik prägen und dabei ihre eigenen Ambitionen verfolgen. Doch während sich Loyalitäten verschieben und persönliche Motive aufeinanderprallen, untersucht das Stück, wie Macht – selbst in kleinen Dosen – Werte und Beziehungen verzerrt.

Über Zurich English-Speaking Theatre:

ZEST was formed as the Zurich Comedy Club in 1954, but has since undergone some changes. We now run a host of different events throughout the year and have members from over 30 different countries.

Although we have changed over the years, we are still a 100% amateur, 100% self- funded group performing all kinds of theatre.
